About

Artist Statement:

As a Denver native, I have 35 plus years in the Graphic Communications industry working in print and web design and as an instructor for print prepress, web design and government online training for The Art Institute of Colorado, Platt Collage and Colorado Technical Institute West Campus.

Currently I am an exhibiting artist at The Denver Art Society and most recently at the R Gallery in Boulder Colorado as a member of the Boulder Art Association. In 2020 I developed, designed and maintained the website for the Denver Art Society, and have continued updates the site for DAS for the past two years.

It is important to me to be involved in my community learning and helping. In the recent past, I have worked with developmentally delayed adults in the pursuit of their artistic aspirations through programs at the VSA Access Gallery, XcelBeyond and Nostalgia Group Inc.

Over the span of my career, I have served on many Boards and Committees, awarding grants and scholarships to deserving students and program participates with the Printing and Imaging Foundation, Pickens Tech, Access Gallery, and the Denver Art Society with to goal to support by initiating change and implementing standards for quality, continuity and sustainability.

Now retired, my focus is in the fine arts and crafts. My mediums of choice are Acrylic Paints, Oil Pastel, Copic Markers, graphite and pen and ink, mixed media Encaustic and image transfer, Lino prints and photography. I enjoy using digital applications to composite my collage work for prints and Cya-no types, Vandykes and Gum Dichromate alternative printing.

I have a passion for the making due to my many creative interests and inspirations. I am a tactile creative and enjoy using my hands making, sculptural modeling with armatures and paper machete, creation of otherworldly dioramas and fantasy containers, jewelry using rare gems and precious metal.

My intent as an artist, is to provide a whimsical journey into a world of juxtaposition and the ironic. Bending the boundaries of context and content, I encourage the observer to suspend stereotypical judgements and instead, embrace the “What If.”
