I found Denver Art Society at a time in my life when I needed to return to my art practice. It's a common story among art school grads. You work hard for some years and the success you are looking for doesn't come. The passion wanes and things like kids and mortgage payments take a larger share of one's life. I stopped doing art.
Fast forward eight years and I wasn't happy. I missed creating art. I hadn't expected that it would leave such a gaping hole in my life. So I came back. This time I'm not looking for success but just to make good art. I also needed a community so I started looking. I found the Denver Art Society and haven't looked back.
